After putting this new flashlight through the paces in and around my home, I’m easily ready to claim it my favorite, small flashlight out of the 6 that I have in my arsenal. I’ll mainly compare this to my old favorite, the Cree Q5 LED powered UltraFire, in my darkened basement pictures below.
A good solid flashlight

A good solid flashlight. But nothing fancy and not even the best flashlight I have bought this week. But a good solid flashlight. Has three modes of light, HIGH, LOWER (but not much), and BLINKING. And the good thing about this flashlight is that you don’t have to turn it off and then back on again, just tap the button and it goes to the next mode. Very cool. You can buy a nicer #18650 rechargable battery (Olight ORB-186P26 works great) and get a much bright beam, or use 3 AAA batteries. I have grown so used to Anker’s products being head and shoulders better than all the rest I was superised that this flashlight wasn’t that way. Don’t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with this, but it’s just another good flashlight. / Anker has become that company I really look up to for their great products with reasonable prices. / No, I didn’t get ANYTHING free, I had to pay my hard earned $$$ for this flashlight. I just wrote this review because I felt like it, NOT because anybody gave me anything.

Bought it because of the other Anker products I have have been exceptional. I highly recommend using 18650 batteries. The other reviewer was correct in that the difference between the brightnesses is not enough, the low setting should be dimmer. It should remember the last mode used, instead of having to cycle through the modes every time, maybe you have to spend $50 on a light for that, which I have.
A good start.

First off, I’m a big fan of Anker. Their products and customer service are top-tier. So, I’m apt to give them a bit of leeway. I have tested 4 different LC40 flashlights, and here’s what I’ve found:

I want to preface this review that I am a flashlight aficionado, but on the lower side of medium. I own close to 20 LED flashlights, but I do not own any Fenix or any other extremely expensive brands. I have typically spent in the $5-$10 range but have 3 or 4 that were $18-$22. I do not come close to the knowledge of most anyone on candlepowerforums. I am also a repeat Anker customer. I have 6 of their battery packs, 3 chargers, countless cables, and even their vacuum. Their customer service has been wonderful and I look forward to their efforts in this new category.
Great Light for the Price

This is a great light for the price. I’ve outfitted my two with 18650 Lithium Ion batteries, for which I already had a charger. So, having $16 or so in the thing I’m not nearly as fearful of losing it as I am my Fenix lights.
Solid light but could be improved

Seems a very well made product and the light is VERY bright! But i think there are some issues that could be improved in future versions:

First of all, I would like to start of my review by saying this is a very good product considering how much the price is and for how bright it is. When I first got my hands on this item I automatically put in the battery (I have the one big battery you need rather than the 3 AAA ones called the 18650 3.7 li-ion 4000 mAH). Now when I got the package it didn’t even feel like there was anything inside there, until I opened it and found the small box of the flashlight. Even the box of the flashlight still didn’t get to me in my head how light the product was. Now I’ll just state some facts about the flashlight that I liked better than I didn’t.
