I just got this today. It seems reasonably well built for price point. I did experience the spray issue when screwing the stove onto a Primus canister and that knocks the stove down to 4.5 stars. The stove lit instantly via the piezo igniter. I was able to boil a liter of water in 3.5 minutes at around 5000 feet. I used the Primus Eta Pot (with heat exchanger fins) sold here on Amazon. I’ll be using this stove next week on a short overnight, and I’ll modify the review then.

Little stove with great potential

This is a great little stove. It comes folded up in a plastic case measuring a tiny 3-1/4″ x 2-1/4″ x 1-5/8″. After screwing it onto the top of a gas canister (ordered separately), it is ready to go. It did ignite once, somewhat reluctantly, with the attached piezo ignition (I also used a lighter) and provides a very hot concentrated flame. However, due to its small size, the fold-out legs which support your pot or pan are only 3-5/8″ wide out-to-out when extended and a little flippy, which is insufficient to hold any decent size of cooking vessel. For this I give it only 4 stars.

small, light, cheap, and no mess.

Coming from an MSR Whisperlite this stove is nice and cheap. Its about as loud as an MSR which is odd, might be due to the fact the burner area is small. The valve is decent, I’m able to adjust from low, med, and high. So its good to simmer food. I can see a few downsides to using a stove like this, first is the height its quiet tall when on top of a fuel canister. An 8oz can is roughly 4inches high and the stove is 3inches, so finding a heat shield might be an issue. But if you are out somewhere with calm weather it shouldn’t be an issue. Second is the igniter probe is a bit wonky, seems like it could break. And then theres the fuel canister issue, average prices seem to be $5-10 for a 8oz can. How long a 8oz can will last one person I do not know, but a guess would be atleast 3days. Boil time was good at 3min 30sec for 2cups of cold water, outside temp of 68 degrees no wind lol. Overall its a hard to beat deal for $6 and some change with prime. Can’t think of any other product that is small, light, cheap, and no mess.

Can NOT be beat for the money. Hands down best bang for buck stove competes with $60-$80 stoves!!

I have put this stove to the test on several backpacking trips through the north west. Mostly heating water for dehydrated meals and coffee it heats a pot at rapid speed. I’ve even put it up against several other more expensive stoves and I’ll tell you its heats water faster than a snow peak and believe it about 30 seconds slower than a jet boil. I’ve never had an issue with balance even with a full pot of beans or soup stirring around on top. And its conserves fuel as well as the rest of them if not better. Hands down the best 6 dollars I’ve ever spent.

Good stove for boiling water

For the money this little stove is hard to beat. I bought this stove for my son to use as a backup. Construction is a little flimsy and some adjustments to the arms had to be made.

This Gear Snob Was Pleasantly Surprised !!!

I am a bit of a “gear snob” and as a result when I am in the market for a piece of outdoor equipment I will more often than not end up purchasing the “best quality” name brand equipment. So purchasing this little inexpensive and unproven (for me anyway) stove on a whim like I did was totally out of character. Because of the price I expected to receive a cheap-marginally designed product that would probably not stand up to the riggers of an outdoor season…What I actually received was a well designed and relatively high quality stove that I suspect will function quite nicely as an occasional supplement to my MSR Dragonfly. Seriously, this is a very nice product. It comes packaged in a plastic case that is roughly the size of a pack of cigarettes…so it is VERY small. Unfolded the stove is still VERY small (less than palm sized) and probably not suitable for a pot much bigger than say a quart…but then again that’s probably all the water you need to boil for a backpackers meal (which is basically what this type of stove is designed for – boiling water). If I were rating this stove just as a piece of camping gear I would probably give it 4 stars until I had an opportunity to judge it’s long term durability…but when you consider it’s practicality for (say) a family emergency/disaster kit (or other occasional and/or light duty use) it is a solid 5. I’m going to order more as gifts.
