I was happy to find a dual fuel stove because it sounds like butane may be hard to find, depending on your location. We always have a small propane canister around for torch use. Bought this for emergency use during power outages as our home is totally electric. We just had one and couldn’t make coffee! Not good. Cooked breakfast on the new stove this morning using butane fuel. It worked like a charm and was faster than our electric stove. The stove support feet are hard so the stove has a tendency to slide around on a smooth surface. Not a big deal but something to keep in mind. I haven’t tried the stove with propane fuel but it is supposed to produce a little more heat than with butane, 7650 BTU vs 8365 BTU. It’s worth the extra cost to me to have the dual fuel capability.

only had for 1 week — so far I am impressed

I have only had this burner for 1 week, but so far I couldn’t be more pleased with it. I love to cook with cast iron and was put in the unfortunate situation of living in a place that didn’t have any gas lines, and hence, no gas burners. Cooking with cast iron–and anything else–on an electric stove completely sucks in my opinion. So this seemed like a good solution to be able to at least have one fire burner to use.

Superior product – well constructed, self igniting, portable!

Very good. Received in excellent condition, pretty fast. Inside package had the propane hose with regulator, the wind deflector nicely contained in a separate plastic box, well constructed and everything contained in a black plastic carry on.

Nice little stove and well thought out. The dual fuel option is great with using propane 16 ounce bottles you can buy them for around $12.00 for a 4 pack at Sam’s Club.

I have tested this stove with both butane and propane fuels. It works well with both, although the butane seems to have a cleaner burn. The output is quite sufficient for campsite purposes, but my camp food is pretty basic and I am typically not boiling large pots of water or anything silly like that. I am happy with the stove so far, but haven’t had it very long. I will update this review if my feelings change.

A MUST for your camping equipment!

LOVE this Gas One stove! I just used it on a camping trip in Zion National Park. It is SO easy to set up and use! I LOVE that I did not need matches or a lighter to start it. I used my green propane fuel tanks I had from another one-burner stove. So easy to hook on and start. I have not tried the butane yet. This stove was hot and efficient. I DID need to create a windbreak from aluminum foil a couple of times, to keep it burning efficiently. It was very windy and raining.

This is a GREAT little stove! Finally someone figured out a way to use propane, but still have the option to use the MUCH more expensive butane. Works great. Fires right up. If you take it camping you will likely need to rig up a wind-shield, but not hard to do. I just took a box and cut out one side. It’s perfect for a picnic or using in the back yard. This stove is a “home run,” in my opinion.

This little burner is SOO easy to use. And it boiled a tea kettle of water super fast ( oh do I miss a gas stove for cooking) Using a green propane canister because the manual warns to use ONLY Gas One butane and I bought Coleman. Still wondering if these would work- they do fit but have slightly higher canister capacity. Will update when I actually cook with it

Why I chose a dual fuel stove

I chose this stove due to its ability to run on Butane and Propane. Butane comes in lighter weight canisters and runs a very clean blue flame. The downside of Butane becomes apparent at temperatures below freezing. This is where Propane shows it worth. Propane on the other hand requires a thicker metal canister due to the pressures. Propane will work at the lower temps. Back pack stoves have a mixture of Butane and Propane. This affords some weight savings for the small 7 ounce canister and use over a larger range of temperatures and elevations. Downside of the 7 ounce canisters is that they are pricey for what they are. I will use the dual fuel stove with Butane ( light weight four pack of 8 ounce canisters at Sam’s club just over $5 and taxed at half the usual tax rate in NYS) and refilled 1lb propane tanks less than $1 each. I run my backpack stove off of a 8 ounce can butane with $2.65 tripod stand convertor. I save the pricey mixed tanks for cold weather use. This stove also has a built in quartz ingition

Solid construction and attractive gold paint color. Case is adequate ( not the best) to keep things neat and protected. Hose, connections ignition and flame all work great. Flame is super hot. Surface is a little slippery for smooth pots but works if leveled. This item is better that the Can Cooker branded item that is almost identical. I previously purchased the Can Cooker and returned it due to cheap construction at a higher price point at the time.
