Part of the new dura-beam standard series of airbeds, the essential rest airbed now features an interior made with Intex innovative fiber-tech construction which is comprised of thousands of high-strength polyester fibers that provide enhanced comfort, stability and support. The essential rest queen features a traditional bed height and cozy flocked mattress top so guests will feel right at home, and they will love the better support and firmness that the fiber-tech construction brings. The built-in electric pump plugs right into your standard wall outlet and inflates the bed in about 3-and-a-half minutes so there is no need to rummage through the garage for your old electric pump or fuss with tiring hand or foot pumps. Plus, it is loaded with features like the indented sides that help grip fitted sheets, the outer perimeter frame on both top and bottom that provides additional stability and support, and the dual chamber construction that provides ample vertical stability. This air mattress is raised 20 inch from the floor for convenience, making it easier to get on and off of than some air mattresses.

Beyond my expectations. I slept as well on this air mattress as my bed at home. I like that it’s 22″ high and inflates by itself very quickly. Looks nice, too. Buying a third one for another person.

Well worth the money.

Works great and inflates fast. Follow the instructions included because it does stretch out the first time you inflate it, so you’ll need to put more air in the first few days.

easy and comfortable.

I have a couple of Intex Inflatable beds. I have found them to be durable and comfortable. In those same beds, I prefer them to be taller and with a flat top surface. The Dura-Beam is taller allowing easier use by guests and less of the “on the floor” feeling. The Dura-Beam is also flat enough so two people can sleep comfortably on the larger queen version. Set up could not be easier. Unfold the bed, plug in the cord, and turn on the air pump. In a couple of minutes you have a nice bed that can easily accommodate normal sheets (and a topper?). When you are done with the bed, it can be deflated by twisting the air pump valve and allowing the electric pump to do much of the work. With almost all the air extracted, it is easily folded into the included storage bag and put away for another time.

SLEEPING ON AIR JUST THE TICKET FOR SUPPORT FOR ARTHRITIC JOINTS

I have hip problems and my regular mattress was not helping. A friend suggested I try putting an airbed on top of my existing mattress and not inflating it all the way so as to give support but also a soft quality. I inflated the bed all the way (easy with the built in pump) and tried it out. It was firm and very supportive but I still needed something a bit softer. The material was sturdy and it held my weight very well. I then began to let air out of it a little at a time until I felt the most comfortable but still having support. Now I get a really good night sleep with much less pain than I did before. The mattress will hold two people quite comfortably as I have a queen sized bed and this mattress covers my existing mattress without any hang over or space on the sides. My all around elastic tuck sheets fit perfectly and I feel as if I have a brand new bed without investing a whole lot of money in a new standard mattress or an orthopedic one that may or may not work. Sleeping on air is great for these old bones. Almost like sleeping in a water bed.

Dependable Intex

We’ve tried all the air mattresses at our local big box stores and find that the Intex are the ones we prefer. You’d think that getting an air mattress would be a simple chore, but there are so many variables to decide on — built-in air pump (adds weight but is more convenient) or hand pump (good for camping if you’ve no electrical outlets), height 13″, 18″, or 22″, built in pillow section or flat, full/queen/king, flocked surface or not. This model has the flat, flocked surface (no raised pillow section), built-in pump, 20 inches high, queen dimensions. It fills up in around five minutes, requires a top off of air for the first few days as the plastic stretches to size, then every couple of weeks needs another slight refill. It’s very comfortable and I find that if I let it air out next to an open window for a day before using it, it loses almost all the new plastic smell.
