I used Jansport throughout college and has, without a doubt, been the best investment for a Strong/Sturdy backpack that you would ever need. I went to undergraduate school and Medical School, and MANY times I carried a lot of books and the Jansport backpack was the Best at carrying heavy loads. It is not made for the laptop, specifically, yet can carry one without a problem. It does not have a special sleeve for the laptop, yet can carry everything, including a laptop.
Very comfortable; very useful. Perfect for laptops!

Something I didn’t know when I ordered this online: The pocket behind the Jansport logo has inner pockets for pens, phone, calculator, small book, rocks, old socks… whatever you want. My other Jansport had the bottomless pit of pockets that was a nightmare to dig through to find a pen or change for that horrible Starbuck’s coffee I keep buying.
Room to Spare for All Books (a lot) and Multiple Binders for a Middle School Student

Hold more than it’s size looks. My middle school son had a Swiss Gear backpack that was too tight with all his books and multiple binders and was hoping for a better and bigger backpack. The JanSport Big Student backpack was great. One feature I never really thought to look for was the zipper design, on the older backpack the zipper opened to the bottom seam, but with JanSport the zipper stops midway, that actually makes “stuffing” the bigger items like the two 1-1/2″ binders in the pocket easier (with the older backpack my son would have a harder time trying to close the zipper). The larger compartment easily holds two 1-1/2″ 3 ring binders, student planner, composition books, class pocket folders with room to spare. The center compartment holds all his textbooks with extra room to spare. There are several other smaller compartments that we store colored pencils other misc. small school supplies. Very pleased with the size and build quality. Although the written description of the color is correct: “fluorescent orange” (the color photo of the backpack appears a bit “duller” looking than it actually is, the color is closer to the “blinding fluorescent orange poster boards”). My son loves the bright orange color.
Offers room to store and so much more!

I’m not sure that these pictures do this product much justice! I am a senior in high school taking honors courses and this backpack is more than enough room for me. I can fit 5 binders (a mix of both 1″ and 2″) easily and still have another pocket to fit my huge lunchbox! This backpack is not only good for practical use, but the vibrant and vivid peach color make it visually appealing. With less things it doesn’t look bulky as shown in the pic.

I have ridiculously large books and a half hour walk to and from the train station each day. Unlike every other backpack I’ve tried, the straps of this one have yet to start ripping or fraying apart from the bag. The only feature I miss is a buckle connecting the two straps across the front of the chest, so they don’t pull apart at the shoulders. However, the bag is heavy-duty and roomy, and I’m easily able to fit my laptop, Con Law book (maybe the largest book ever made), Crim Law book (2nd largest ever), and pocket dictionary. Overall, if you can get as good a price as I paid for it, I would recommend it to any student or other user…

I am very happy with my purchase of this backpack. The color is great, and it has plenty of compartments but not so many that you don’t know what to put in them. I especially like the mesh holder on the side, I put my water bottle in there so I don’t have to carry it around. I’m a graduate student so I have a lot of materials I have to lug around, and this backpack is perfect for it. The straps are very sturdy and don’t cut into my shoulders. It is very comfortable to wear.
Love it

I have been a Jansport Junkie since I was in High school (Many years ago). I remember begging my mom for the black backpack with that tapestry looking strip across the front. I was lucky enough that she bought it for me and thanks to their lifetime warrenty (it has been replaced for free 3 times now) I still have that backpack and it functions as my always packed bathroom travel bag.
Good roomy bag for GRAD student.

So I have been using a messenger bag for the last year, but decided to switch back to a traditional backpack because my back has been killing me. As a grad school student I needed a bag with multiple compartments, and enough room for several heavy binders and books. I had this backpack when I was in highschool (go ’04!), and I used to love it so I decided to give it a second go. I still have the old one but it’s covered in Sharpie designs.
