Quick & to the point. My daughter just went off to university this September, and hand-held pepper spray was included as a necessity. This past week, my son a high-school junior, found one of the pepper-spray dispensers I added to my wife’s purse. Sixteen and curious, he decided to hit the release button in the bathroom sink for a second and see if this stuff” did anything”. My wife and I were two rooms away. We suddenly found each breath painful, burning, and eyes a mess. we thought something noxious was leaking in the house. We raced outside and before I could call 911, my son was already lying on the grass trying to catch his breath.

Having never been subjected to pepper spray before, I thought it would be “fun”, “interesting”, or “exciting” to allow a trusted friend to spray me under extremely controlled conditions. As an action medic, I’ve treated individuals that were maced and have gotten extremely minute second-hand effects from being around them…but I’m certain there is nothing that could prepare anyone for the amount of pain, irritation, and terror that this self-defense tool causes.

Security on your keychain

I bought this keychain pepper spray for our daughter, who is in college. She often has late classes and has to walk to her dorm in the dark. After a couple of assaults on campus last year, I made sure she had this product on her keychain and another larger Sabre spray in her dorm room.

Though this pepper spray is a pretty bulky for a keychain, it is absolutely worth carrying. I’ve only had to use it once, and it performed perfectly.
