I placed this same review for the 1/2 Gallon Coleman Jug. There is a an older model of the 1/2 gallon jug with rings near the top of the jug. This review is of the Coleman jugs that don’t have the rings at the top (which seems to get a lot of bad reviews.)

I will admit that I probably look like and idiot hoisting this thing up in the air …

I have been using this jug for a couple of weeks now and it meets my expectations. I had a minor leak here or there the first few days, but I found that this occurs only when the seal is wet when the top is screwed on. I just make sure it’s dry when I screw on the lid and there are no leaks. You can’t beat the price to have iced water (or whatever drink you prefer) readily available at all times. Quit wasting your money on bottled water! Plus, I found that if you fill it with a bunch of ice and water, it takes longer than 24 hours for the ice to melt completely. I will admit that I probably look like and idiot hoisting this thing up in the air for a refreshing swig, but oh well. I probably look like an idiot with or without this thing.

Husband loves it for work

My husband works in a manufacturing facility with large ovens on each machine. It’s hot anytime but in the summer it is brutal. I got this for him to keep cool water handy nearby during those months. At a gallon I was afraid it might be too large at first, but once he adds his ice it is a perfect size. And when he gets home 9 hours later it usually still has ice in it despite being refilled a few times. He really likes the spout on this one, as well.

This is not your typical size drink cooler. However, with the hot weather we have here in St Louis, it definitely serves the purpose. My daughter ran out of water more than several times during her soccer games, so I decided to get this larger jug. It kept the water ice cold and held enough that she didnt run out. It is bigger than normal, but she doesnt mind carrying it when she knows she is guaranteed to have water throughout her whole game.

I bought this based on several years of experience with a smaller model to use as part of a car survival kit. It works exactly like it should – doesn’t leak as a few reviewers had said, nor does it have a “plastic” odor. Of course, some things require a modicum of common sense like tightening the lid enough so it doesn’t leak, and washing the jug out before using it the first time. But common sense is apparently a rare commodity these days.

Just like the type I used to go to baseball with as a kid

So after two uses.. I can give this a somewhat accurate review on performance. I filled it up with 1/2 ice, 1/2 water yesterday at 6PM. I drank it for the remainder of the night and left it in the basement at 72F. Today I came back at 6PM, and there was still ice in there.

This works perfect for me at the gym. Holds a little over 1 gallon. I did find a better price at Walmart for a dollar less. I also find the spout a little diffecult to clean.

Have owned this jug for nearly 10 months using it daily. To this point the jug continues to be leak free from the lid and the spout, unlike other water jugs I have owned.

I know it’s just a water cooler, but… I had purchased the orange Gatorade 1 gallon cooler from Amazon and it was a complete waste of money. Handle broke in 2 months and water leaked around the lid o-ring as well as the o-ring under the mouthpiece. Now to the Coleman cooler: After a couple of weeks it is perfect. Sturdier handle (still take it easy on it), no leaks from the lid even though it doesn’t have a o-ring, and no leaks at all from the mouthpiece. Since I work outside I use a water cooler everyday, and I highly recommend this one for it’s reliability in doing what it’s supposed to do.
