Coleman Palmetto Sleeping Bag

COMFY!! My 6 & 7 year old boys looked forward to sleeping in these! They absolutely loved them. I used two as sheets for my air mattress, best sleep ever. I love the inside material of these sleeping bags.

This review at the moment is based off my general first impression of this sleeping bag. I considered many other bags before making a purchase as I am getting back into camping and have a trip coming up this weekend. This sleeping bag is pretty comfortable, nice and thick. The color is not what’s depicted in the stock photo but more of a blood red (think Valentine’s Day heartshaped candy box). I’m actually loving the color, it’s not flamboyant and it’s sort of comforting as it’s a muted red and not bright on the eyes. I actually decided to buy this item based off other reviewers who claimed the color was darker (which is what I wanted). The lining feels comfortable but it’s the kind of material you can easily snag on your finger nails or rough skin. I would suggest moisturizing or a liner 🙂 the sleeping bag came nicely compacted in a bag, which I had trouble returning to that state. Basically the zipper on the side which makes the bag expandable I cannot rezip. The bag however did roll nicely and will fit in the bag’s extended state. I will be field testing this weekend and will follow up on it’s actual performance. In the meantime I am happy with this purchase and looking forward to several camping trips this year. On a side note, Amazon rocks and shipped this (and a tent) lightening fast so now I have plenty of time to air out my new gear.

This sleeping bag is certainly the right price for the occasional camper, and since it’s in stock at Amazon (at least when I bought it) a great choice when a camping trip comes up fast. I don’t bother to use the attached bungee cords to pack it up, preferring to stuff it into a stuff sack, but they do work nicely. I’m not crazy about the feel of the lining…if I’d had more time I’d prefer to spring for flannel-lined, and maybe an extra-wide bag, but for a once in a while sleeping bag I can make do. Because of the price and availability, I’m giving this a high 4star mark!

Fifty years of material science advances have paid off. This is one of the lightest and warmest sleeping bags that I have ever used, and after 30+ years in the Army, I have used quite a few.

I was a bit disappointed when i opened the box and saw the color is not bright red as in the photo, its rather like a maroon shade of red. Also noticed the inner material seems like easily to catch with your long finger nails. But when we brought it out for a camping were so happy with it. It kept us warm inside while its raining and cold outside the tent. Also discovered we can combined two sleeping bags and create a double size sleeping bag for two, perfect for us couple to cuddle up the cold away 🙂 If your an occasional camper that wants a cheap sleeping bag that is warm and cozy, this could be the one for you.

This sleeping bag is great, very good price when compared to the comfort you get. It would keep you warm for winter nights in Texas but you won’t use it in the summer as it would make you sweat a lot.

This is one of the lower-end, yet totally affordable sleeping bags available on Amazon. I was heading for a trip to visit friends at a local College and needed something to sleep on that’d ship in 2 days (thank you Prime!) and this Coleman cool-weather sleeping bag did the trick.
