This chair is awesome.. seems way more durable than the camo and mesh one my hiking pal has..helinox makes very durable products but I would wager that this one’s going to last longer just for the fact that mesh just doesn’t last as long as a nice thick fabric.. the pockets actually come in very very handy when camping can hold your cell phone wallet or utensil while your hands are busy with something else even a small camera just remember that as you sit in the chair the pocket it is very slim because you’re pulling the chair taught as you sit and its not going to fit something like squishable without shooting it out:-) I like the velcro on the back also.. I gave mine a morale patch says I’m a zombie hunter :-)again this is a very durable chair that should last me a long long while I’ve been out on a few hiking trips with it now and to have used it in some very inhospitable areas.. I always think to myself when I sit down the nice seat and some remote area but I’m very glad about this chair and I can put my feet up and relax 🙂
Great Product for Small and Light Camping Needs
Really nice small chair. Packs in really light and takes up about as much room as a small rolled towel. Quick to setup and pack up. Easy to clean and construction seems solid, even for a heavy guy (225+).
Was planning on using it for everyday use so I bought black first but I thought it looks good enough no matter what the color

I bought the chair in black and in CAMO. Was planning on using it for everyday use so I bought black first but I thought it looks good enough no matter what the color. So I chose what I liked most, the CAMO.. Other than that sturdy and comfy. Have kids jumping all over me while I sit in the chair and no problems except maybe the tipping over but that is expected as long as it doesn’t break.
If you camp regularly or are in the military, you need one of these.
This is a great little camping chair. I’m in the military and was tired of not having a place to sit when waiting in between missions, or after hours. The thing I love about this is the small size that it breaks down to, basically a little bigger than a Nalgene bottle. The pouch that it comes in is easy to attach to an assault pack, or throw in the back of my truck so I can always have this seat with me and it also doubles as a storage pouch for other items when the chair is deployed by attaching it to the legs of the chair itself, a real clever design in itself. The chair sets up quickly with no fuss and breaks down the same too. People have been concerned about the chair being too close to the ground, but I don’t find this a problem being 6″ and the seat height off the ground is 13.5 inches. I weigh anywhere from 185 – 200 lbs depending on what I’m wearing, etc and this chair can easily take this. I have owned this chair for almost a year and it gets daily use these days and it is still going strong, with no stress on the legs or the chair itself. The stitching is great and very strong, with ample reinforcement where the legs slide into the chair fabric. It has a nice form, giving you a comfortable reclining seat that you could easily sleep in (and I have), but you can also lean forward if you need to reach the ground, or use your hands for a task, etc. The chair has two “slip pockets” on the side where you could store something flat enough. I don’t use these as there’s nothing I can really think to put in there that I couldn’t easily keep in a pocket for example. On the rear of this chair is a loop velcro patch for any of your “cool guy patches” if you so wished. All my friends are jealous of this chair and always ask me where they can get one. The price point puts them off, but it is definitely worth the price. I got mine on Backcountry for less and I also own the Multicam version which you can get there too. All in all, a great, light, comfortable and very compact chair that does everything you could want of it and maybe a little more. Treat yourself and buy one for yourself.
So much better than sitting in the powdery dust or a sappy …

Used this backpacking at Philmont Scout Ranch a week ago. So much better than sitting in the powdery dust or a sappy pine log. I was not trying to go super-light on the backpack, so the extra couple pounds didn’t make any difference to me, and was worth it for a chair to sit in. My son strapped his to the outside of his pack utilizing the daisy chain loops on the pouch. I carried mine inside my pack. Fit nicely, and was easy to pack clothes around, so it did not hog the real estate of the pack. A bit expensive, but well worth the money for a little bit of comfort.
Great Hiking Chair – excellent craftsmanship, durability, portability and comfort
The Helinox Tactical Chair is exactly what I thought it would be, a small, lightweight, portable chair that is very durable. I watched a few videos on the product before I purchased it and was glad that I did. Don’t be surprised if you are looking for a larger chair; this one can’t compete comfort-wise with the large, heavy truck camping chairs, as it is nowhere as large, does not have cup holders. This chair is for serious hikers who carry everything in, not the truck camping market. I plan on using this at the beach this summer as well. Overall I was very pleased with how the Helinox Tactical Chair functioned.
awesome chair. better material then the normal helinox chairs

awesome chair. better material then the normal helinox chairs. only problem is that the colour is white. But surprisingly, its not that hard to scrub the dirt of if. Have not thrown it in the washing machine but am tempted too.
Excellent Chair for Mobility
This is the second one of these I have purchased and I completely love how compact and well made they are. I have the non-tactical version and the only difference is the small side pockets, Velcro on the back and it is all black. The pockets actually work for your iPhone of a small camera. I use these when I am at the races to roam around the track and set up at different spectator locations. I can stuff this chair into my 5.11 MOAB 6 day pack and become very mobile. I can stick Velcro morale patches on the back to send any message I feel at the time 🙂
Fabulous chair for kayak camping.
Just came back from a kayak trip and used this chair. It easily packed in my kayak, was easy to assemble and was extremely comfortable. I have sat in similar chairs and felt like I was reclined, the seat of this chair allow you to comfortably sit up. I brought along some tennis balls to put on the feet in case I had any issues with it sinking in the sand. Honestly it was not an issue on this trip so the tennis balls did not get put into play.
Its worth buying and worth having
If you travel, camp or backpack this is the chair for you. I was a little hesitant in purchasing this because of some reviews (on amazon and other sites) of how low the chair sits to the ground. I thought it would sit very low, but personally this chair is not that low and the back of the chair does hug your back very well. I didn’t feel unstable while sitting in it leaned back or sitting straight up. I plan to keep this in my backpack for camping and travel. Also, on the rear of this chair is a “Velcro patch” I guess its there to attach a patch to if you have one, like those tactical patches. I’ll just leave mine bare. I’m glad I took the plunge and purchased this!
