For those of you who don’t care to go through the dry cleaning process, the results you can get using this product will probably exceed your expectations. It’s unique, effective, easy-to-use, and perfect for washing delicate or difficult to clean items such as feather beds, feather pillows, and down-filled ski jackets and gloves. A very challenging ski jacket was restored to like new condition with no detectable residue. The jacket’s insulation performance and appearance was like new again, so my confidence in this cleaner rapidly increased. I started using Nikwax on other items. So far I have yet to be disappointed.

The change I observed in the appearance of my jacket after using the wash in Tech Wash was wonderful. One cycle through the machine and my older Burton jacket had a like new appearance. No leftover residue or harsh chemicals to worry about. This product exceeded my expectations.

I’ve been using this stuff for quite a few years for washing technical garments, but mostly use it to keep my tent in clean and working order at least once every year or two. I know that some people say never to wash a tent in a machine, but I’ve been doing it ever since I bought my front loader quite awhile ago with excellent results. What I do is clean out the machine really well with a clean cycle and bleach, run a pure-water load (to clean any residual bleach) and then load up garments or tent with two cap’s worth of Nikwax on a delicate cycle. After it’s done and clean to my satisfaction, I then re-waterproof the garment/tent with Nikwax waterproofing that’s appropriate, and maybe seam seal again if necessary. I run my gear all year long, in rain/sun/snow, and don’t really have any performance problems with restoring a good deal of water protection to my gear with the above method. One of the smaller bottles will give you three or so washes, but if you have hard water, you might only be able to pull off two loads.

Worked well.

I was worried about using these b/c of messing up my washer so I used them at our vacation houses’s washer and it was 100% fine. There was no residue left in the washer or dryer. A little goes a long way and I will be able to use this for the next couple of seasons as well. Used it on my snow suit. Good product.

I have several Gore-Tex garments and I have noticed in the past couple of years that 2 of them are losing their DWR coating resulting in “wet out” and making me feel wet an clammy in the the jacket. I was aware that this is an issue in these expensive pieces but had not heard of NIKWAX until just a few days ago. I ordered this product, received it yesterday, proceeded to launder 4 of my expensive outer ware pieces and today….. we had rain. Well, I couldn’t wait to go outside and see if this stuff delivered what it said it would. Gladly I am very happy to say, it worked amazing. My LL Bean rain jacket that 3 days ago beaded no water, beaded like the day I first wore it in the rain over 5 years ago. Not only that, but after washing it , the jacket looked great, in fact all the jackets I washed came out looking like the day I bought them. I love these high tech fabrics as they work in all weather and their breathability has always been a key for me. Nikwax worked like magic, their DWR seems to be renewed and the jackets look great. My only negative comment and it’s a small one is that this product has a funky smell while in the wash, but after drying on low, I really can’t smell it anymore. I am pleased as punch to have bough this and will be ordering more to keep on hand. I just spoke to a good friend in the UK and he said, “oh yeah, I’ve used if for years” to which I said, “why didn’t you tell me about such an amazing product” Anyway, if you own any gore-tex stuff, get this, you won’t be disappointed.

WARNING !!! Do not go by the directions on the bottle if you have a polartech fleece i almost ruin my fleece by doing so!!! go by what the fleece says to wash it by. then use the nikwax polar proof to get your polartech fleece to shed water and keep its insulated value… if you have any type of outdoor garment like parkas…. down jackets…. rain jackets….. fleece ..polarfleece then i HIGHY RECOMMEND YOU TO GO TO NIKWAX webpage look at what they got order here from amazon and keep them looking fresh and new

Gets it clean…

I finally got around to washing my 20 year old Northface mountain shell. While nothing was going to make this jacket look new, the Nikwax Tech Wash gave it an admirable try. I then used the Nikwax treatment to restore the water repellantcy to the outside of the shell. While it’s not been through the torrents that it has in the past, it’s so far like a new jacket. Hard to say goodbye to an old friend. Especially since nobody makes them like this anymore.
