Cute, but when how often am I on mountaintops?

I bought these for my 9 year old daughter to use with her friends and also so I can communicate with her when she is playing outside. These are cute and work fine. However, buyers should be aware that you get less than mile range in an urban area. The 16-mile range only applies from mountaintop to mountaintop. In an urban area, the package states a range of up to .7 miles. I tested this in Brooklyn where they have about a 1/2 city block range–maybe a block if both people are outside.

Best of 5 we have owned.

We have purchased 4 or 5 walkies in the past 12 years. This has benn the best for the price in ease of use, sound quality, and battery life. We Motor Home full time since 2001. We use them to back into RV pads at parks and to stay in touch in regions where there are no cell signals (hiking) We also clip them on the Grandchildren when we are in State and National parks. Even the 5 year old can use it NO PROBLEM. But the quality is excellent, they are beyond just being a toy, and the feature that assists in avoiding people on the same (your) channel works very well.

We love these lil blue guys! The reception has been pretty reliable in whatever situation we have used them in. We have used them for work around the house when communication is needed and also have used for fun with kids. No problems at all! Highly recommend.

Very easy to use

I am ordering a second pair of these for my daughters in pink. Love these blue ones so much! They are very rugged, not toy quality and very easy to use. I am going to order another pair for me and my husband with NOAA weather channels build in. Probably the Motorola Talkabout MR350, I read good things about those. I know they won’t be as simple to use with all the features but will be great for the whole family to talk to each other. We love camping and geocashing and these will be great for that. The hardest part will be to come up with a good ‘handle’ for all of us 🙂

My daughter swore she would sleep in her own bed if she got walkie talkies. It worked, and they are dependable communication in our home.

My wife and I wanted a means of communicating when she is downstairs and I’m upstairs. These little radios do a fine job. For what we wanted, color didn’t matter. They are really ‘pink’, though.

Works very far

The Motorola: Talkabout MG160 Two-Way Radios are fun, and very easy to use, even our 3.5 year old knows how to play with these. When we saw the whole 16 mile radius we got excited. Gramps lives like 3 miles from us, they didn’t work, its more for a line kind of radius. They do work great 16 miles from one side the forest from the other just fine, being in line across each other. These are easy to set up, turn on, set volume, set the channel, and push the yellow button. These do have 16 channels, so keep in mind to stay off the police and medical line, unless you listen in. You will also pick up other people on phones, or on two way radio’s too. These take 3 AAA batteries and last a long time. Very fun to play with, kids love chatting from upstairs and downstairs among us. They work great and are so great quality for sure. The extra buttons are great for seeking channels that get picked on, like we live by the coal mines, truckers area, and gun range, and we pick up these many times. Great set and great gift for kids, adults, when traveling, or at the beach!
