Raqpak Microfiber Travel Towel

My brother is always talking about having a great towel he can take with him to work out with. I had heard about the Raqpak towel and thought it would be great for him to try. After getting one in exchange for an honest review I can tell you that he loves it. (see picture)

I titled this “wonder towel” because I wonder where all the water goes. The first time I took it swimming I was hoping it was going to work, because I wasn’t taking any big cotton towel with me. I have a membership in an RV park where I’m able to swim all year long. After swimming and showering it was time to test out the towel. It felt weird using it at first because I’ve always used a thick cotton towel that soaks up all the water and gets really wet. I dried myself with this towel and then felt the towel – it was barely damp! Ok, I thought I must not have really gotten myself dry the first time, so used it again and alas, the towel was still barely damp. I felt my body and it actually seemed drier than when I used a cotton towel; wow!

I have heard about these Microfiber Towels and had really been wanting to try one out. The one company I knew that made them sells them for over $40 and I just couldn’t see spending that on a towel, no matter how much I wanted to try it!

I am a big fan of microfiber towels, and I bought an assortment of this style towel in different colors (and of various brands) for my kids. Pretty sure this is one of the colors that bled initially, but beyond that no complaints. My kids use these for the pool and baths, and they work well and dry nicely and quickly. No complaints. There are a few brands out there selling similar towels, and honestly I have not noticed a huge difference among the brands, and we use them daily. I might even copy this same review for a few brands because they are so similar. If you have never used these thin style towels before, you might not love them initially, but for our family having towels that are light and take up such a small space in a backpack and in our towel closet is awesome…the pros outweigh the con of slightly missing the comfort of huge fluffy towels. 🙂

I bought this towel to backpack through Asia and it’s awesome. It folds up really compactly and the largest one even doubles as a blanket in a pinch.A towel is one of the most massively useful thing an interstellar hitchhiker can have. Partly it has great practical value. You can wrap it around you for warmth as you bound across the cold moons of Jaglan Beta; you can lie on it on the brilliant marble-sanded beaches of Santraginus V, inhaling the heady sea vapors; you can sleep under it beneath the stars which shine so redly on the desert world of Kakrafoon; use it to sail a miniraft down the slow heavy River Moth; wet it for use in hand-to-hand-combat; wrap it round your head to ward off noxious fumes or avoid the gaze of the Ravenous Bugblatter Beast of Traal (such a mind-boggingly stupid animal, it assumes that if you can’t see it, it can’t see you); you can wave your towel in emergencies as a distress signal, and of course dry yourself off with it if it still seems to be clean enough.

Nice quality microfiber towel. It really does dry fast. I bought this for my 19 months old daughter since she was outgrowing her hooded towels. I don’t use fabric softener since my daughter is still a baby. I use Dreft detergent to wash our clothes and towels. Washing the towels in Dreft without any fabric softener leaves the towels kinda rough. I didn’t want to be rubbing that on my daughter’s skin so I needed a towel that was soft for my daughter’s skin. My husband said to get a microfiber towel. I looked on Amazon and found this towel had a good rating so I figured I’d give this towel a try. I have washed this towel with my Dreft detergent and it has dried fine…no roughness. I am happy with my purchase.

Although this towel isn’t soft like fuzzy terrycloth towels, it’s acceptable! I had a chance to test it out last weekend to dry a truck bed with a puddle of water. (We were building a camper for a competition when it began raining.) It took a few tries, but the puddle was quite large.
